The weather has been spring-like over the past week. That is to say, unsettled, with gray, rainy, wet days interspersed with bright, sunny days that promise summer. Above, the sky darkens as storm clouds move in from the north.
Expecting rain, I was surprised when hail began to thud down. What a racket on the metal roof of the barn!
Before long, the hail gave way to rain, a wild downpour. When I went out onto the porch to snap a photograph of the storm, my lens was immediately spattered with blowing raindrops. Late in the afternoon, the sky began to clear.
After a rainy day, the river runs high.
