Eyegillian, if there’s one thing the Longwood gardens really make clear, it’s how wonderful water is in the garden. Even a little pond. A waterfall would be nice! The water does just flow out of the eye without shooting into the air, but there is clearly considerable pressure behind it that gives it a feeling of power. I saw the Thunder Hole in Acadia some years ago. Impressive on a windy day.

What beautiful gardens — I would love to have a waterfall in my back yard! The eye of water reminds me of blowholes near the sea (none around Saint John, though) or at volcanic hot spots, although I’m presuming the water bubbles up gently instead of shooting into the air!
