As the daylily season continues, I’ve been enjoying new faces in the garden. Here is an update featuring some of the latest blooms. These include old-timers like Frans Hals, below, and newer hybrids such as Elegant Candy, pictured above. For more on daylilies, see Daylily Season.

It’s amazing how many of those I think I’ve already seen, as I’ve walked through the mall past La Senza.
Really? I hadn’t noticed flowers there, but last time I walked by a La Senza they had some Crazy Cat Lady-type pajamas that were pretty tempting.
Okay, we tried to choose our favorite from these, but they are all so amazing! We’re so taken with the variety. After much consideration, we’re choosing two favorites — Femme de Joie, and Elegant Candy =)
Wow.
I have trouble choosing a favorite too, Kenton and Rebecca. When I went to move some of my plants from my last garden when I moved here, I was going to dig up my favorites…but they’re ALL my favorites! I ended up just moving the ones that were easiest to get at. Of course, besides just the flower there are other factors that make one or another a better garden plant. Femme de Joie has a nice flower, but has weak scapes, the stems the flowers bloom on, that often need supporting. I think it’s the name that I like best about it! Elegant Candy has an excellent plant habit as well as being a pretty face.
