barefootheart — the post office door in Scranton is absolutely beautiful. I wonder if the metal art work was performed during the depression under the federal Works Program Administration (WPA)? Unemployed artists were hired to provide artistic works for federal buildings and parks across the nation. Our WPA art legacies are works similar to the door you show in your photo. — barbara
LB, I didn’t know that about the doors. I’m not a regular follower of “The Office”, but it is big in Scranton!
The little park rides were already being packed up on Labour Day. Very sad. But the bananas reminded of another Scranton claim to fame: Harry Chapin’s 30,000 Pounds of Bananas!

Thanks for the information, Barbara! There was nothing posted about the doors that I noticed. They just caught my eye as I was walking by. Beautiful!
The Scranton Post Office is an eight-time Academy Award winner — who knew?
Those banana boats look like fun.
Good capture of Rail Guy, great pose.

30,000 lbs of bananas is what Scranton immediately made me think of.
Scranton can’t be the Electric City – that’s Peterborough!
