I don’t have any giant moose sculptures decorating my garden, but I do have a whimsical bird. Charlie was constructed by a local artisan with a great imagination. He is well adapted to his garden habitat because Charlie is made of garden implements! He has a trowel for a beak, a spade head for his back, a rake for a tail.
I especially like Charlie’s googly eyes and his bright red colour set off by yellow. Soon Charlie will be flying away to spend the winter in a warmer location, such as the basement. This morning there was ice on the horses’ water bucket.
Charlie is so cute — I bet he’s a handy friend to have nearby when you’re out in the middle of the garden and need a trowel/rake/spake/thingy..!
Ice! Yikes! I’m sure Charlie will be happy to move to a warmer spot soon.
barefootheart — Your folk art bird is terrific — and all made out of old garden implements. I guess a moose would have been too large for the garden. Ice on top of the water buckets! Winter is coming and soon will be headed for us in the south. Look forward to it. — barbara
Eyegillian, he’s good company in the garden. He never critisizes anything I do!
Grammarian, if only I could move to a warmer spot too.
Barbara, thanks. I wish I could send you some of our winter!
I just love these types of sculptures! I have a dog in my garden, although he wasn’t made from implement parts. One of my favorites is in a yard of a nearby town – green dinosaurish creatures eating lawn flamingos. They are hilarious!
That does sound fun, Ellen. I don’t even mind a few flamingos.
Wide-eyed Charlie seems very impressed with your gardening.
