frogs

Life in our little ornamental pond just keeps on a-changin’. Within hours of adding water, a host of little frogs moved in. Then the water became murky with algae. Then several big frogs moved in and the little frogs moved out.

I read that the algae bloom was due to the nutrients in the fresh water and as soon as they were used up, the algae would disappear. Sure enough, after several weeks, it happened literally overnight. One day, murky water. The next day, clear. Somewhere in there, the big frogs disappeared and now there are a number of little frogs back. Meanwhile, the duckweed has expanded post-haste and is now providing a nice blanket over about a third of the pond. It’s been interesting.

There are four little frogs hiding in the duckweed above.
