If everyone on the planet consumed as much materially as we do in North America we’d need another four planets to provide for it. With just 5% of the world’s population we consume a full 33% of the world’s resources. We live in an addictive society. Each one of us is exposed to 4,000 ads every day (TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, billboards, etc) each one of them telling us that we are deficient unless we have whatever is being sold. But we are not human havings, we are human beings. ~ source unknown

ugh, yes. thank you!
I didn’t think that these ads are telling “we are deficient unless we have whatever is being sold,” I thought they were telling us that the ambient society was nuts.
Not sure about the source of this quote which was shared on Facebook. Maybe “Magic Oven”?
Yes, it’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world. It’s amazing how many people have leisure time and money but no interests beyond buying things, TV and maybe travel to tourist destinations. The craze for Tassimo and Keurig coffee makers baffles me. So wasteful! Seems like a case of more money than brains.
