Osprey with Fish Dinner
I spotted this osprey by our little stream. It had captured a fish and was enjoying breakfast on a branch high above the water.

It is a substantial fish. Can you see his/her nest in the area? They do not seem to mind to have the nest in full view and these nests are big.

Osprey are quite common along the St. Lawrence and Rideau rivers near here, and there are nesting platforms that are regularly used along those waterways. Our own little stream, a source for the South Nation river, is small, and it is a thrill to see an osprey visiting and actually catching fish here!
