Prince Michael

Prince Michael is deserving of his royal name. He is a beautiful cat. He has a lush, long coat and a full, plume-like tail. He also has a rather regal, aloof bearing, as if he’s just putting up with us commoners. This is really just a symptom of his shy nature, however. He likes being petted, once he overcomes his nervousness. He usually goes by the less-than-regal name of Mikey. He is a litter mate of his brother Arthur. They are very different fellows though, both in personality and appearance.

While Arthur is a short-haired classic tabby, Mikey is a long-haired version of his ticked tabby mother, Momcat. In fact, Mikey is something of a momma’s boy. He is his mother’s favorite son and the two of them often hang out together. They have grown closer over the winter and snooze or window gaze together more and more frequently.

It’s nice that Momcat, who spent several years on her own, rearing kittens that were the offspring of some unreliable Tom who loved her and left her, now has a friend.

Arthur, formally know as PRINCE Arthur, is one of Momcat’s offspring. He is a year younger than brother Capone, and sports an attractive tabby coat with wide, black stripes. While Momcat is a ticked tabby, also known as an Abysinnian tabby, Capone is a mackerel tabby, with narrow stripes. Arthur’s wide stripes are those of a classic tabby. When Arthur was a kitten, his stripes seemed so huge on his tiny body, they barely seemed to fit on him, but he has grown into his stripes and is a handsome fellow.

Arthur has a fondness for food that is positively dog-like. While all the other household cats accept even the most tasty delicacy with caution, carefully sniffing each offering to ensure its suitability, Arthur gobbles down any scraps that come his way with a zeal that seems to baffle his feline buddies. Arthur also seems to take a certain delight in teasing his little sister Moey. From time to time, he taunts her and teases her with mock chases, apparently for no reason but to entertain himself. Moey keeps a wary eye on Arthur. Most of the time, though, Arthur is pretty laid-back and enjoys whiling away his days snoozing in the sun.
