I can’t believe there are no comments here! Are these all yours? They are stunning! I have only recently discovered the ease of care and beauty of daylilies – and am ordering many fine ones from a super place called Vivaces Nordiques in St. Leon Quebec. I am replacing my other lilies (Asiatic and Oriental), as they have sadly become plagued by the horrible Red Lily Beetle 😦
Do you divide often? Do you fertilize regularly? I’d appreciate any tips from your experience. Thanks, and great pictures!
Yes, those photos are all from last summer. The daylily season is just hitting its stride again and I have some new faces as well as these. It’s terrible, about the lily beetles, isn’t it? I only have a few lilies, but lots of hemerocallis.
I have ordered from Vivances Nordiques in the past. I also like Montfort in Quebec. At the Ontario Daylily Society site (http://www.ontariodaylily.on.ca) there is a good listing of growers. I have purchased nearly all of my plants via mailorder. They’ve come from B.C. to P.E.I. and places inbetween!
I rarely fertilize or fuss with the daylilies, although I do mulch and deadhead. I find how much they need to be divided depends on your soil and climate. I just moved all mine to this new garden so they won’t need dividing for a few years. They really are very carefree plants.
You’ve got some nice ones!
I especially like that Geneva Firetruck and Femme de Joie.
Not sure I should do this to you but…
have you checked out The Lily Auction?
It’ll give you some ideas!
Thanks, Dan! I like the name of Femme de Joie and the flowers are nice. The scapes tend to be weak though. Geneva Firetruck was outstanding last summer. I got it at the Ontario Daylily Society meet a few years ago.
The list is a bit behind. I must update it with last year’s purchases. I have another dozen on order for this spring that I’m looking forward to!
I’m aware of The Lily Auction, but not everyone ships to Canada. Lots of pretty plants though. I try to keep my collecting ‘under control’ re space limitations. A lot of other stuff I like to grow too. Do you have daylilies?
Thanks for posting your lily pixs. They are beautiful. Love your garden!
Thanks, Carolyn. Looking forward to this year’s blooms!
wow beautiful lilies I became interested in this beautiful flower because last year I got yellow ones for mothers day from my daughter. I also have the orange one all over the yard that were there when we moved in. I like to fact that it is easy to care for them thank you for posting so many beautiful pictures they are absolutely beautiful.
July 2012 Beautiful beautiful photos of these amazing flowers….I’ve got over 200 varieties and darned if I don’t want more!!!
Hi Linnie, Thanks for visiting! Daylilies really are addictive, aren’t they? We’ve been having a dry summer and they have really proved themselves, coping well with the drought. I have about 125 varieties, and I’m always up for more too!
We could use some of your pictures in the AHS database. Please contact me about permissions.
Michael… I sent you an email but perhaps it went to your junk folder? You are welcome to use the pictures.
